Fire Safety / Fire Marshal Level 2

This 1-day course is designed for employees who want to develop their basic fire safety awareness in order to assist their employer by undertaking more specific fire safety roles in the workplace to manage fire risk (e.g. as fire wardens/marshals). Successful candidates will be awarded a national level 2 qualification.

You will, no doubt, be well aware of the potentially devastating effects of fires in the workplace in terms of lives lost, injuries, damage to property and the environment, and to business continuity. You may also be aware that It is believed that most fires are preventable.

The importance of fire safety in the workplace is underpinned by health and safety legislation that places a duty on employers to establish policies and procedures and ensure their employees receive appropriate training.

A range of subjects is covered including:

  • Common causes of fire
  • The behaviour of fire
  • Fire legislation & responsibilities 
  • Fire prevention
  • Safe use of a fire extinguisher
  • Emergency evacuation procedures
  • Hazards and risks associated with fire in the workplace
  • Controlling fire risk in the workplace
  • The role of the nominated fire warden
  • The principles and practice of fire safety management at work

Fire Safety Awareness Level 1

This 4-hr course is designed for all employees as an introduction to fire awareness and is an excellent ingredient in the induction programme of new employees. It deals with how fires can occur and what to do in the event of a fire.

The qualification also provides a foundation for those employees who want to develop their basic fire safety awareness in order to assist their employer by undertaking more specific fire safety roles in the workplace to manage fire risk (e.g. as fire wardens/marshals/stewards etc).

Successful candidates will be awarded a national level 1 qualification.

  • The common causes of fire
  • The behaviour of fire
  • Legislation (brief) and responsibilities
  • Fire prevention
  • What to do if a fire breaks out
  • How to use fire extinguishers
  • Emergency evacuation procedures

Evacuation Chair Training

This ½ day in-house course will equip staff with the ability to safely use evacuation chairs. We will provide you and your staff with the practical, hands-on experience, and the knowledge required to give you the peace of mind of knowing how to safely operate the equipment and how to carry out a safe evacuation of mobility impaired people.

The course covers the deployment and handling of an evacuation chair and passenger. It will also cover advice on the siting and distribution of chairs as well as improving awareness of their multiple uses. A practical approach is taken to ensure that plenty of hands-on practice – all under expert supervision.
